+Azshava is way more exciting in person than watching it on youtube, seeing all the players funnel in and a giant festering tentacle hole opens up was really cool, this boss fight was undersold in promotion videos imo. There are a few events here and there near the first major town where you will see people, but after that you are mostly on your own aside from seeing another person here and there unless you're in a party. + MMO features exist but have little to no impact on your actual gameplay unless you want them to. +Combat is not nearly as slow as it looks in the gameplay videos, when you're actually playing a lot of fights seem pretty fast paced and full of moment to moment choices, life or death. I don't think there are any games in this genre that do it as well as D4. + Cutscenes surprised and excited me, D3 and POE literally don't have anything like this at all, first time seeing an Isometric arpg with in game cutscenes of this quality. (Prologue sets the tone for a more atmospheric and perhaps slower game, but it's better at setting up the story and it all makes sense) +One of my main complaints in D3 is atmosphere and music, ten minutes into the D4 beta I literally stopped and had to appreciate the landscape and music, it matched the mood with the gameplay and matched the mood of the story. +After playing this beta, no bosses or anything leading up to them will be easy or an afterthought, its not D2 difficult (not as a bad thing) but it's way more challenging than D3 act bosses (in a good way). (Diablo 3 was really bad at taking it's act bosses and it's story seriously) The story and gameplay did not match up in D3. + As a D2 player growing up, D3 really oversold with cinematics, only for me to punch Azmodon in the face without dying after a giant movie cinematic trying to portray him as a powerful Prime Evil. D3 tried to set high stakes only for you (me as a monk) to punch everything to death with little difficulty. + The story is told multiple leagues better than in Diablo 3, the cinematics and dialogue are reinforced by the difficulty of the gameplay itself. I apologize in advance for the length of this post lol. Here is a giant list of everything I felt this weekend. I just came off of a 2 day binge off of the Diablo 4 beta.
